Our Core Values

Our History

Commencing operations in 1995 with 41 students, two teachers and two demountables, the school has grown steadily with the introduction of the high school in 2005. With the commencement of Stage 6 from 2014, students have the opportunity to complete their Prep-12 education on the one campus. We offer an innovative approach to the HSC where students focus on fewer subjects each year and sit their HSC exams over two years.

Our Purpose

Our purpose is to equip and empower our students to reach their God given potential. MCS is committed to bringing students to life and helping prepare them to thrive in an ever changing world.

This includes not only the development of fundamental skills such as reading and writing, but also skills such as creative, critical and disciplined thinking, imagination, communication, accountability, problem solving and learning how to learn.

Our Approach

Our students excel in their learning and gain confidence through relevant and engaging learning experiences.

Results in statewide and national tests provide evidence of the dedication, skill and hard work of our teachers and students, and reflect the school's ongoing commitment to academic achievement. Students also enjoy a wide range of co-curricular activities such as sport (with regional, state and national success), academic competitions, camps and excursions, and the creative and performing arts (including musicals, choirs and vocal ensembles).

Our Commitment

MCS is committed to nurturing the whole child with personal development initiatives, such as student leadership programs.

Shine, Strength, self esteem and social awareness programs, as well as learning support programs, chaplaincy and counsellor/psychologist support. The development of values, ethics and character is embedded throughout school life.

Our Facilities

Service and Mission are an integral part of our school culture and provide students with opportunities to help fulfill the vision of the school by serving others in the community, both locally and globally.

Our facilities are ever improving and cater for a wide range of specialised subjects and activities. An 800 seat multipurpose centre features a full competition size basketball court and large performance stage with excellent theatre-style lighting and audio, supporting the school's strong sporting and performing arts focus . In 2015, the school presented 'The Sound of Music' musical and received incredible appreciation and accolades from our community.

At Medowie Christian School we offer a comprehensive educational learning community that meets the needs of students from Prep to Year 12 on one site. We see every student as a unique diamond which requires skilful attention and appreciation. Producing a polished diamond that fulfils all that it was created to be involves a strong partnership between home and school. At Medowie Christian School we have an outstanding team of teachers and facilities that provide the platform to develop vibrant thinkers who are entrepreneurial and successful beyond the school fence.

We are committed to providing extensive subject choices for all students, and providing opportunities comparable to much larger schools. We are proud to be leaders in enriching our community and are excited to be an official partner of the Newcastle Jets. The opportunities that are presented to our students are as unique as they are broad. From our new venture into robotics, to chess tournaments, music, drama, public speaking, sports gala days, biathlon and triathlon events, science engineering challenges and national mathematics competitions. Our teachers use the latest resources, all in a technology rich environment.

Ultimately, every parent wants their child to feel safe, enjoy their experience at school and reach their full potential. At Medowie Christian School every student in the school is valued and we recognise that social, emotional and spiritual developments are as important as academic. We offer a supportive and caring environment where every student’s God given gifts and talents are recognised and developed. Our desire is that every student in our school would dare to dream big and that together we can see their dream become a reality. Our discipline and care management systems are developed from a position of every student being ‘a promise’ where they are nurtured to succeed and grow in their strengths.

Our staff, students and families love their school. I invite and encourage you to visit us to see and experience it for yourself.
